Howser Visits DESERT HOT SPRINGS SPA HOTEL
on "California's Gold" - Intro
to show. "Continuing our water adventure, we've
now come just a little bit up the hill to the Desert Hot
Springs Spa, which has been here in Desert Hot Springs
since the mid-1950's. It's an institution. This is the
place to go if you want to get in some hot bubbly water."

Visits DESERT HOT SPRINGS SPA HOTEL -
Tour of Pools. "I mean it just reaches out and
grabs you when you come in here." "Well, we're nestled here
in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains and we have
fabulous hot water." "Look at this shot right here, looking
from the pools up to the mountain!" "It's great. We've got
sunshine 300-plus days a year, a beautiful mountain in the
background, and we pump hot mineral water from about 150
feet underground into all these pools, then percolate it
back into the ground, so it's like a virtual river of hot
water." VIDEO

Huell Howser
Interviews the DHS Spa Lifeguard. "What's it like
being a lifeguard here at the Spa?" "I love my job. I watch
over the people and make sure they don't doze off in the
pool. This is some of the best healing water in the world,
so they tend to stay in a little too long. It's my job to
keep an eye on that." "So, the water is so soothing and
relaxing that you lose track of time when you get in!" Well,
that and -- this is about as close as we're going to get
to heaven on earth, right here." VIDEO (MPEG, 1.7 MB) |
